DID Basic info
What is it? DID or dissociative identity disorder is a type of dissociative disorder that developed due to intense repeated trauma in early childhood. "Some children in such circumstances can develop DID by compartmentalizing their ongoing, traumatic experiences and then displacing them onto other aspects of their self. By doing so, they can distance themselves psychologically from [the] pain." Sometimes children don't know how to deal with intense repeated trauma so it
"helps" in the only way it knows how. Which is making someone new to deal with the situation because whoever is there at the time isnt doing a great job.
What are alters? Alters are different parts of a system that are there to help deal with situations that the body is in. Each alter can have a different job depending on what caused them to split. Alters can have their own opinions, looks and names. Each alter has their own perception of self and sometimes choose not to view themselves as part of the host. The host is the alter that fronts the most.
What can I do about it? You? The best thing you can do for any system in your life is to educate yourself! Below I have attached various links to DID research so you can learn more about it if you want to! But barebones, no matter what, be respectful. It takes a lot of guts to first realize you are a system, seek out help and then build the courage to tell people about this very stigmatized disorder. LORE: My character is a Creator meaning she has the ability to create entire worlds and invite all her friends into those worlds! She has created 7 different worlds so far and each world is represented by one of the gold bands she wears. She has two on her upper arms, 2 on her wrists, 2 on her ankles and one around her neck. Most of the time these gold bands are covered up to hide her true identity as a Creator but sometimes she likes to show them off!
